Beth Allen is the founder and CEO of BASH Reformer Pilates, a woman-owned fitness business that opened its first studio in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in 2023. BASH now operates five locations across Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi while maintaining a consistent method, studio experience, and community-centered mission.
Every October, National Women’s Small Business Month recognizes the achievements, leadership, and economic impact of women entrepreneurs across the United States. As a women-owned company, Keller International is proud to share the stories of women who turn ideas into businesses, create opportunities within their communities, and build spaces where others can thrive.
Beth’s story shows what can happen when growth begins with a clear understanding of what the business should stand for.

Creating a Place for Women to Feel Strong
When Beth opened the first BASH studio, she set out to give women more than an effective workout. She wanted to create a place where they could feel strong, confident, supported, and connected.
Beth created BASH to offer women a workout that is effective, empowering, and sustainable. The BASH Method challenges women physically while helping them build confidence, but the workout is only one part of the experience.
“I wanted women to walk through our doors and feel welcomed, supported, and motivated, regardless of where they are in their fitness journey.”
That commitment to community has helped BASH become more than a place to exercise. It is a space where women come together, encourage one another, and make fitness a meaningful part of their lives.
How BASH Grew Without Losing Its Identity
BASH maintained its identity during expansion by establishing consistency across its workout method, instructors, client welcome, and studio design. Beth also allowed each location to remain connected to its local community.
Today, BASH operates five studios: Tuscaloosa University and North River in Alabama, Fayetteville in Arkansas, Oxford in Mississippi, and Auburn in Alabama.
“One of the most important decisions was making sure that growth never came at the expense of the BASH experience,” Beth explains.
Rather than treating each new location as a separate concept, Beth protected the elements that define BASH while giving each studio room to connect with its own community. That balance has helped the company build a recognizable brand without losing the personal experience on which it was founded.
Designing a Consistent First Impression

The physical environment plays an important role in that consistency. Each BASH reception area helps introduce the brand before a class begins.
“The reception area is one of the first things a client experiences when they walk into a BASH studio, so we wanted it to immediately communicate the feeling and aesthetic of the brand,” Beth says.
BASH selected Keller’s René Tambour Reception Desk for multiple studio locations. Its curved silhouette and vertical tambour detailing create a recognizable visual element from one location to the next.
“The René Tambour Reception Desk has a beautiful, timeless quality that feels both elevated and welcoming. It fits naturally with the design direction we’ve created for BASH and gives our locations a consistent visual identity.”
Since 1999, Keller International has helped business owners furnish professional spaces around the experience they want to provide. The René Tambour Reception Desk has become a signature element across BASH locations.
For Beth, that consistency reaches beyond the furniture.
“We want every part of the studio, from the workout itself to the design and the way clients are greeted, to feel intentional.”
Building More Than a Fitness Business
Although Beth is proud of BASH’s expansion, the relationships formed within its studios remain the accomplishment she values most.
“What means the most to me is seeing women come together, support one another, and make fitness a meaningful part of their lives,” she says. “BASH has become more than just a place to work out. It’s a community and a place where women can feel strong, confident, and connected.”
That community is the clearest measure of what Beth set out to build. The studios may share a method and recognizable design, but their purpose remains centered on the women who enter them.
Beth’s Advice to Women Growing a Business
Beth encourages other women to define what their businesses should stand for before pursuing expansion.
“Growth can be exciting, but it also brings a lot of decisions and challenges. Having a clear vision and staying true to your values makes those decisions much easier.”
She also encourages women to trust their judgment, remain open to learning, and surround themselves with the right people.
“There will always be people with opinions about what you should or shouldn’t do, but you’re the one who knows your business and your vision best. Be willing to learn, surround yourself with good people, and don’t be afraid to evolve along the way.”
Her central advice is simple:
“Don’t be afraid to grow, but make sure you know what you want your business to stand for before you do.”
Celebrating Women Who Build
National Women’s Small Business Month gives Keller International an opportunity to recognize women like Beth who are growing businesses and building places where others can thrive.
Her experience shows that expansion does not have to come at the expense of identity. With a clear vision and thoughtful decisions, a business can grow while preserving the qualities that made people connect with it in the first place.
Keller International is proud to support the spaces behind BASH’s growth and to celebrate the women whose leadership continues to strengthen businesses and communities.
