Professional Barber Chairs

Plan enough space for the chair to fully recline while allowing both the barber and client to move comfortably around it. Most shops allow approximately 5 feet of working space around each chair, but your ideal layout will depend on your floor plan, aisle widths, and nearby cabinetry or shampoo equipment.

Most barber chairs are powered by a manual hydraulic pump and don't require electrical or plumbing connections. Simply assemble the chair and position it where you want it. If a chair includes optional powered features, those requirements will be listed on the product page.

A quality commercial barber chair can provide many years of reliable service with proper care and maintenance. Regular cleaning, periodic tightening of hardware, and replacing wear items like hydraulic pumps or upholstery when needed can significantly extend the chair's lifespan.

Heated and massage barber chairs can create a more premium client experience and may be a good fit for luxury barbershops, spas, or shops offering extended grooming services. For traditional haircut-focused barbershops, they're generally considered an optional upgrade rather than a necessity.

If you offer straight-razor shaves, beard services, facials, or other grooming treatments, a reclining barber chair is the better choice. For haircut-only shops, a non-reclining model can be a more economical option while still providing excellent comfort and durability.

Most commercial barber chairs are designed to remain stable without being permanently anchored. If your installation requires floor mounting or you're outfitting a mobile unit or trailer, contact our team so we can recommend suitable options.

Standard barber chairs bottom out around 18 inches at the seat, which is comfortable for most clients to step into. Some heavier-duty models sit at 20 inches.

Most standard barber chairs are not specifically designed as ADA transfer chairs. If accessibility is a priority for your shop, contact our team and we'll help you identify products that best support your accessibility goals.

Yes, and many shops do. The visual rule of thumb is to keep base styles (round vs. square, chrome vs. matte) within the same family even if the seats vary.
