FOR BUFFALO CO, AN ELEVATED SPACE ISN’T JUST ABOUT AESTHETICS – IT’S ABOUT CRAFTING AN ENVIRONMENT THAT FEELS WELCOMING, WHERE EVERY DETAIL MATTERS. AT THE HEART OF THEIR CAREFULLY CURATED INTERIORS ARE KELLER CHAIRS, KNOWN FOR THEIR UNMATCHED COMFORT, DURABILITY, AND SLEEK DESIGN.
“We’ve been open in our new space in Tennessee for almost two years now,” Jessica told us. “We were approached with the opportunity to check out this Columbia Arts Building, and we just loved the space. It's a historic building, much like the historical shopping center our Temecula location is in. We weren’t even looking for another location, but we realized we couldn’t miss this opportunity.
“We were drawn to the history of the building, but from a design element we loved the big windows that provided so much natural light,” she continued. “The space is smaller than our other location, with seven chairs, but we continued the hybrid salon and barbershop concept like our original location. We wanted our interiors to reflect that welcoming environment that we provide and for our barber and salon clients to feel at home and comfortable in the space.”
Looking at the interiors of Buffalo Co, you can see that Jessica and Travis highlighted the industrial space of the Columbia Arts Building by enhancing their surroundings. The historic building was built in the 1920s and used as a warehouse and grocery distributor for the area.
In contrast, now it serves as a community hub for the local art scene of the Columbia Arts District. “The history is so rich and it’s just such a cool building that we wanted to embrace the aesthetic,” Jessica explained. “We kept the brick exposed and the cement floor but aimed to warm up the space with the décor. It’s a similar vibe to our other shop, but a slightly different aesthetic.”
And one of the ways Jessica and Travis made their space stand out? Their Keller Maverick barber chairs. “Because the space is so light and bright, we thought that adding a little moodiness with the black Keller chairs was a great addition,” Jessica told us. “We wanted that little bit of drama which the chairs provide. We opted for Keller because we had to make sure the chairs provide a gender-neutral function, where our barber clients are happy, but our salon clients are happy to sit there for hours for a color or extensions service too. The Maverick was the perfect choice for that.”
Jessica continued, noting: “We came across the Keller chairs because we had a specific vision of a streamlined, simple, but modern barber chair which made it easier to pin down. We didn’t want anything clunky or oversized for our space, as it is smaller, so we wanted to maximize the space for the stations.
“The chairs are still relatively new, but two years on, the quality and condition of the chairs is excellent. I’ve been very happy with the chairs so far, and our clients enjoy the comfort that they provide as well. The process to get these chairs couldn’t have been easier,” Jessica enthused. “It was a straightforward process, and the delivery was smooth and fast. The orders were shipped so quickly, and genuinely, the entire process was just as smooth as it possibly could be.”
You can immediately tell that all the details at Buffalo Co were hand-selected with the same level of care as the chairs, with every corner of the space thought out. “For the stations, we wanted to go for a warm-toned wood and have them lower to the ground to create a modern look,” Jessica explained. “The round mirrors at the stations add a modern look and a contrast to the large rectangular windows. We have small touches dotted throughout the space too; like the guitars on the wall to add some personality to the space.
“Because of all the natural light we get in the salon, I added plenty of plants as I know they will thrive in that environment. Adding some greenery to the space continues to enhance the salon, providing a clean and relaxing environment – plus I’m a huge plant lover so that’s just an excuse for me!”
