"THE BARBER CHAIR SITS CENTRAL TO BARBERSHOP CULTURE – THE HUB WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS. THE BARBERSHOP IS AN EXTENSION OF THIS; TELLING EVERY CLIENT WHO YOU ARE... WHICH IS WHY INTERIORS ARE EVERYTHING."

In Geneva, NY, Symmetry Barbershop has truly made its mark. And it’s all because of Kenna Taylor. The barber and founder of Symmetry Barbershop has built up the two-shop brand since 2017, creating a space where everyone feels welcome. With a new-age aesthetic, complemented by Keller International’s furniture, and a determination to create the ultimate barbershop experience – there is no stopping Kenna from finding symmetry. “I’ve always been someone who loves a challenge,” Kenna Taylor, owner and founder of Symmetry Barbershop, told us. “That’s, I suppose, how I got into barbering. I started off in the cosmetology side of things, but then as I started to learn more about barbering, I just fell in love with it. It was an unfamiliar culture, and style of cutting – so it was something I could really sink my teeth into.” Since finishing cosmetology school, Kenna has built up her two-shop brand, with a third shop in the works.

Visual Vibrancy

The aesthetics of Symmetry Barbershop reflect Kenna’s artistic background, with each location capturing a unique, industrial-meets-modern vibe. “In Geneva, we’ve embraced the vintage industrial elements of the building,” she explained. “Exposed brick, clean lines, original pendant lighting – there’s character here that speaks to people. The second location leans more on the modern side, with a sleek, industrial edge. The space is punctuated by hexagon lighting and bold, open spaces. “I’ve always loved art terms like balance and symmetry, which is why I named the shop Symmetry. I wanted the space to reflect that – feeling very open and balanced – nothing too congested.”

Keller International has played a crucial role in shaping Symmetry’s look and feel. “They’ve been incredible to work with,” Kenna shared. “They’re local, which means I don’t have to worry about long shipping times. And their furniture is not only beautiful, but it’s also built to last. Working with Keller is more than just a choice of furniture for me; it’s a commitment to quality.

“Honestly, to work with a brand like Keller – it takes a lot of stress off my shoulders! I don’t have to worry about those small things, because they’re taking care of them, so, I’m free to chase my dreams and build something from scratch. They’ve made my vision easier to achieve and have been such a breath of fresh air.

“On top of that, they have quality equipment, and I'm grateful that I don't have to worry about buying something and the quality being poor. I have the Blackout Barber Chair and honestly, it’s great, both aesthetically and practically,” she added.

On the Road to Success

As the leader of the pack at Symmetry Barbershop, Kenna sets the tone for the atmosphere she’s cultivated. And her ethos? Keeping it professional and supporting one another.

“Our team is all about professionalism, respect, and cleanliness,” she told us. “We’re a family, and we take care of each other as much as we do our clients. I believe that’s also why we connect with Keller. We share those values.”

This sense of community shines through in every interaction, a value she’s instilled in her team from the beginning, noting: “We’re an ecosystem, each part keeping the whole running smoothly. “I want Symmetry to be a space where everyone – from mothers bringing in their kids to clients from every walk of life – feels at ease.

I know how intimidating it can be for some people to walk into a barbershop. I wanted to change that, and make it feel like home for everyone. No matter who or what you are.”
