BarberEVO Interiors Feature: One Chair, Three Ways

WHEN IT COMES TO BARBERING, THE RIGHT CHAIR ISN’T JUST A NECESSITY – IT’S AN EXTENSION OF A SHOP’S IDENTITY. THE MAVERICK BARBER CHAIR FROM KELLER INTERNATIONAL IS DESIGNED WITH BOTH AESTHETICS AND DURABILITY IN MIND, SEAMLESSLY FITTING INTO A RANGE OF BARBERSHOP STYLES. FROM SLEEK AND MODERN TO RUGGED AND CLASSIC, THIS CHAIR FINDS ITS PERFECT PLACE IN A RANGE OF LOCATIONS.

The Keller Maverick barber chair is more than just a piece of equipment – it’s a statement. Whether it’s blending into a luxury suite, complementing a community-rooted barbershop, or anchoring a yet-to-be-revealed unique aesthetic, this chair proves its versatility. For barbers looking to invest in both function and style, the Maverick is a testament to the fact that one chair can truly fit three ways – and beyond. Chey the Barber, AV Barber Co’s Alberto Villalobos, and Ponyboy’s Nick Watson told us how the Maverick integrates into their spaces, each with its own distinct aesthetic and client experience.

Beyond Modernity

Nick Watson, owner of Ponyboy Barbershop in Tulsa, Oklahoma, knew from the start that his space had to break the mold. Inspired by The Outsiders, a film shot in his hometown, the shop’s name pays homage to Tulsa’s rich cultural history. “I wanted a name that was true to my town,” Nick told us. Ponyboy is the antithesis of the dark, hyper-masculine barbershop aesthetic. “I wanted a bright space, a lot of natural light, a lot of greenery, and vibrant colors,” he said. The shop features a large garage door that opens daily, creating an inviting, airy atmosphere. When it came to choosing barber chairs, Nick prioritized style and function. “The Maverick gave that new-school feel. It got away from the old-school chrome-and-black or chrome-and-red barbershop chair,” he says. “The Cashmere color was perfect – it matched an accent wall I had already built out of wood. I also did my research, and Keller was the brand I kept going back to.” Beyond aesthetics, Nick values the Maverick’s sleek design. “They’re a little smaller and more streamlined than the big, bulky barber chairs you usually see,” he noted. “I actually just ordered two more – I have seven now.” For Nick, the chair was the foundation of his shop’s aesthetic. “I picked the chairs first and built everything else around them… and, well, it’s perfect. Everyone that comes in compliments them, especially barbers.”

Luxury Meets Performance

For Chey the Barber, based in Glen Allen, VA, the journey to finding the perfect chair was about more than just function – it was about creating an experience. “I happened across the Maverick by chance. I was looking for my own inspiration,” Chey explains. He found that inspiration in the Camel[1]colored Maverick, a piece that instantly elevated the feel of his suite. “I ordered the chair and once en-route, had my suite painted. As I prepared my space to take clients again, it felt different. It felt awesome. It felt like you were sitting in ‘excellence, elegance, and exclusivity.’” For Chey, the Maverick complements his high-end service, which mirrors his past in cosmetic car repairs for luxury brands like Porsche and McLaren. “Naturally, you just perform well in that environment, influencing clients’ moods and being.”

Rooted In Tradition, Designed For The Future

Alberto Villalobos of AV Barber Co in Gilbert, Arizona, takes pride in creating a welcoming space for his diverse clientele. His barbershop is a fusion of modern techniques and traditional values, making the Maverick an ideal fit for his setup. “AV Barber Co is just the modern, traditional barbershop here in Gilbert. We specialize in haircut trims – anything a male service needs,” Villalobos shares. The Maverick’s design allows him to cater to a wide-ranging clientele, from young kids to professional athletes. The Maverick’s sleek yet timeless aesthetic complements the shop’s atmosphere, ensuring that every client, no matter their background, feels at home
